The aim of this course is to introduce or further up-skill Military personnel in all facets of mechanical, thermal, power tool, ballistic and explosive breaching techniques. This intense course will be broken into modules and conclude with realistic and testing scenarios. Students will be required to demonstrate their individual competencies during each facet of the course.
A strong emphasis will be placed on the operator’s ability to correctly analyze a target then determine the correct method of entry for gaining a positive breach.
On successful completion of this course, the students will possess the knowledge to correctly identify the most suitable method of entry for a given target and the skill to conduct a 100% positive breach.
Module one: Days 1-2 (Mechanical, Thermal, Power Tool, Hydraulic and Ballistic Breaching)
- History and theory of non-explosive methods of entry
- Mechanical breaching of pull and push doors
- Mechanical breaching of windows
- Defeating barricaded doors
- Ballistic breaching
- Thermal breaching (BROCO and SPO Torch System)
- Quickie saw and chain saw breaching (gas and battery powered)
- Hydraulic Breaching (SAN’s Tactical Breaching System)
- All tactics to include approach, negotiating obstacles, and actions at the breach point
- Scenario based training
Module two: Days 3-6 (Basic Explosive Breaching)
- Introduction to Ensign Bickford non electric shock tube firing systems and explosive compounds
- Preparation and firing of charges using shock tube initiated blasting caps
- Critical safety issues – Calculating net explosive weight, safe stacking distance, and internal overpressure
- Breaching report documentation
- Breaching wood and metal doors (external and internal)
- Breaching windows
- Defeating barricaded doors
- Tactical charge placement drills
- Reacting to a misfired charge
- Multiple breach point entries
- Breaching sheetrock, brick and block walls
- Roof breaching and fast rope procedures
- Breacher’s brief back format
Module three: Day 7
- Scenario based training utilizing all methods of entry
- Final training exercise
Equipment Requirements:
- Long sleeve uniform
- Gloves
- Ballistic protection – soft armor or plate carrier with plates
- Eye & ear protection
- Helmet
- Breaching Shotguns (optional- TEES can provide)
- Dump Pouch
- Flash Drive up to 8GB (course breach reports, photos, videos and SOPs)
- OSHA requirement: 3M OV P100 Household Multi-Purpose Reusable Respirator
