Operator TACMED Course (TCCC or TECC)

The aim of this 3 day course is to introduce the student to operationally proven drills and procedures that pertain to the use of combat casualty care, tactical medicine, and combat related trauma in order to prepare the student for real life situations that may be encountered during training or live operations.

On the successful completion of this course, the student will possess the necessary skills to accurately perform “TACMED” care in austere environments, which may be permissible, semi-permissible, or non-permissible.

Course content includes:
Data proven trauma skills based on real world operational experience focused on life saving procedures, medical integration  and bringing care as close to the Point Of Injury (POI) as tactically feasible.

  • Care under fire/direct threat care (CUF/DTC)
  • Tactical field care/indirect threat care (TFC/IDT)
  • Situational awareness as it relates to TACMED solutions
  • TACMED planning and SOP’s, CCP’s and MEDEVAC
  • Integrated team dynamics on patrol and during CQB
  • Self Aid and Buddy Aid care
  • Bleeding control
  • Adjunct Airway management
  • Management of chest wounds
  • Basic wound care
  • Patient assessment (MARCHE) and packaging
  • Casualty transport, documentation and patient handover between echelons
  • Written test requirements
  • Mission briefings and planning
  • Scenarios UTC

On successful completion of this course, the student will possess the necessary skills to safely and confidently employ TACMED solutions in support of special operation missions.

TCCC or TECC certification is not required to attend this course. If the student wishes to receive TCCC or TECC credentials through the national Association of Emergency Medical Technicians they must indicate which certification (TCCC or TECC), the certification deadline MUST be submitted prior to 30 days of the beginning of the course. Equipment Requirements:

  • Ear protection
  • Protective eyewear
  • Range training uniform (long sleeves)
  • Gloves
  • Plate carrier or soft armor
  • Helmet
  • Handgun or carbine (both if possible) – no ammo is required for this course
  • Individual medical gear (IFAK’s and medications)
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • Agency specific documentation (if required by your home agency)

Medical supplies and workbooks will be made available for training. Firearms simulation will be made available during the course at specified times. (blue guns are available)
